With extensive human resource management experience and solid HR generalist background I am tertiary qualified and a certified member of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand (HRINZ). My down to earth approach has gained me a healthy reputation from colleagues, employer/business groups, union officials, local body politicians and senior management. My competence in developing strong leadership and management effectiveness provides you with the ability to achieve your goals through your people.

WHY ME?

I have dedicated myself to providing a consultancy service based on informed expertise, that excels in quality and service to companies, organisations and individuals. I apply best practice principles to all of my customers and stakeholders taking pride in “doing better than a just a good job.”

During my career in Human Resources and in the time that I have taken to establish my business, I have played a significant role in providing cost effective strategies within local government and have an ongoing business relationship with some small to medium sized companies. This has enabled them to establish employment agreements, policies and management plans that meet the needs of their business and reflect a tightly competitive employment market.

But don't just take my word for it...

ENDORSEMENTS

“David has brought a down to earth, good humoured but always intelligent and professional approach. His work in putting together conferences, participating in regional HR forums, his belief in collaboration across the region and his willingness to share his knowledge and experience have all been appreciated by a great deal of people over the years.”
Phil Wilson – Chief Advisor, Manukau City Council.

“Coping with the unexpected resignation of a Chief Executive of an organisation with a busy programme and a largely volunteer governance structure can throw a huge burden on those volunteers. When this happened to us we were fortunate to be able to call on David to take over the appointment process and to deliver a high quality short-list of suitable candidates that allowed the Board to conclude the appointment quickly and with minimum additional load.”
Steve Jenkins – President, Association of Consulting Engineers of New Zealand (ACENZ)

“My switch from the UK to New Zealand was predominantly a lifestyle choice and was greatly assisted by David who from employment through to arrival ensured that my migration to New Zealand went smoothly and without difficulty. His genuine concern and professional manner conveyed confidence in me and I couldn’t have been happier with my decision to come to New Zealand.”
Jonathan Hall

“As a new immigrant from South Africa, David was of great assistance in ensuring that I was easily able to integrate into my new role, as well as help my wife and I settle into the local community. The concern and assistance provided by David at that time went way beyond the normal call of duty.”
Chris Stone - Wastewater Operations Engineer

“Our family have been residents of New Zealand for more than 4 years now. Our journey to New Zealand started when we responded to one of Dave’s advertisements in a local South African newspaper. Dave in my opinion is a true professional. He has honesty and integrity, which is hard to come by, and is an ambassador to his profession and his country.” John Hickman – Stormwater Engineer

PERSONAL NOTE Laughing

I am passionate about Rugby and in particular my local team East Coast Bays Rugby Football Club. I'm also a strong supporter of North Harbour Rugby(www.harbourrugby.co.nz) and of course the All Blacks. In fact I am a lover of sport and as such support all local teams in any event.

SPECIAL NOTE: Overseas recruitment

Nearly 80% of business executives who responded to a newly released study stated that foreign workers have helped fill staffing needs and added that their practice of hiring foreign workers has remained steady, even during the recession. The study, conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit, has shown that immigration has a positive impact on both business and a country’s economy. It has also revealed that foreign workers give businesses competitive advantages by enhancing the skills of the workforce and providing businesses with global market insights.  “The results clearly indicate a belief that foreign workers are seen as a critical component of a workforce that includes predominantly domestic workers, complemented by foreign workers,” stated the report. Respondents stated, however, that they face tough challenges when hiring foreign workers, especially when it comes to linguistic and cultural barriers, as well as visa processing times dragging along for too long. Over a quarter of business people who responded said that regulations make it difficult to hire enough foreign workers, a situation that the report is urging policymakers to address. "The challenge for policy makers will be to address these business needs by developing flexible immigration policies that minimise barriers to mobility," added the report.
